HIES Homeowners IBG
Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG)
Protection for Your Home Energy Installation.
When you choose a HIES Accredited Installer, and they register your installation with us, we purchase an Insurance Backed Guarantee on your behalf meaning your home energy installation is protected if your installer ceases trading or cannot honour their written guarantee.
What is an Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG)?
An Insurance Backed Guarantee is an insurance policy backing the original workmanship and guarantee provided by your installer. It’s an extra layer of protection for your home and your investment.
Why is an Insurance Backed Guarantee Important?
Even the most reputable installers can cease trading for a variety of reasons. Guarantee periods can range from 2 to 10 years, and during that time anything can happen. Without an Insurance Backed Guarantee, a guarantee could lose its value, leaving you with faulty goods and the potential cost to fix them.
With an Insurance Backed Guarantee in place, you are protected – meaning your home energy installation remains secure no matter what happens to the installer.
What to
Look Out For
Not all professional guarantees are the same. Before going ahead with your installation, always:
- Request a copy of your installer’s workmanship guarantee
- Ensure you understand the financial protection that will be provided
- Ensure the financial protection product is regulated
How an Insurance Backed Guarantee Protects You
When your installer registers completion of your installation with us, we will purchase an Insurance Backed Guarantee on your behalf. This covers the product and workmanship included in your installer’s workmanship guarantee, subject to the insurer’s terms and conditions.
To benefit from an Insurance Backed Guarantee:
- Your installation must be fully completed to your satisfaction, free from defect.
- All payments must have been made directly to the installer named on your certificate.
- You must have a valid contract and workmanship guarantee with the installer named on the certificate
Important: No cover is in place until you have received your Insurance Backed Guarantee certificate and cover is subject to the terms explained above. If you haven’t received your certificate, please contact your HIES Accredited Installer.
With a HIES Accredited Installer, you can enjoy your home energy installation with peace of mind and confidence, knowing your investment is protected.
