HIES About HIES
Raising standards.
Protecting homeowners. Supporting installers.
HIES sets clear standards for home energy installations and makes sure homeowners are protected. We ensure both installers and homeowners can move forward with confidence.
Who We Are
HIES is committed to the highest standards in consumer protection for the home energy sector. Through our Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) approved Consumer Code and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service, we promote fairness, accountability, and protection for both homeowners and installers.
We work with Accredited Installers to ensure work is carried out to a professional standard, while providing homeowners with clear protection when investing in renewable energy.
Our role is simple:
- We support installers to meet clear standards through our Consumer Code.
- We provide protection for homeowners.
- We support fair outcomes if something goes wrong.
Why HIES Exists
Installing home energy is a long-term investment. It needs to be done properly, and it needs to be protected.
HIES exists to make that possible. We support installers to meet clear standards and give homeowners confidence in the work being carried out.

How We Work
All installers must meet our accreditation requirements before joining HIES. This includes checks on qualifications, business practices, and financial stability.
Once accredited, HIES Accredited Installers are continuously monitored to ensure standards are maintained.
For homeowners, protection applies when your installation is registered with HIES and confirmed in writing.
We keep the process clear and straightforward, to ensure expectations are understood on both sides.
